NF Railway Sports Quota 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria – Educational Qualification & Age Limit

For appointment against Sports Quota in Technician-III, the minimum educational qualification is Class 10th pass. However, the training period for such Sports Quota appointees will be 3 years, unless the candidate passes/possesses an ITI qualification in the relevant trade, in which case the training period will be 6 months. Proof of Age (HS/Matriculation certificate issued by a recognized board or equivalent) must be attached with the online application.
NF Railway Sports Quota 2026-27 – Period for Reckoning Sports Achievement
The sportsperson must be an active player currently, and their achievements must have been earned in the immediate previous two financial years. Only sports achievements in recognized championships/events held on or after 01 April 2024 will be considered for appointment. For validity of a sports achievement, the concluding day of the championship/event will be taken into account.

Sportspersons fulfilling the minimum sports norms for recruitment in higher grades shall also be eligible for recruitment in lower grades. Category-A includes the Olympic Games (Senior); Category-B includes World Cup/World Championships/Asian Games/Commonwealth Games/Youth Olympics and similar events; Category-C includes Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, SAF Games, USIC World Railways Championship and World University Games. NF Railway Sports Quota 2026-27 Selection Process & Marks Distribution
Shortlisted eligible candidates will be called for (i) Trial of sports performance and (ii) Interview and assessment of sports achievement, educational qualification, etc.

Only candidates declared FIT in the Trial will be considered for the Interview stage. The Recruitment Committee adds its marks (out of 60) to the Trial Committee’s marks (out of 40) to prepare the final merit list out of 100. Interviews are held on the same day as the trial or, at the most, the next day.

The offer of appointment is given purely on the basis of merit. In case two or more sportspersons score identical marks, preference will be given to the younger candidate to decide the merit.
