AIIMS NORCET-11 is a common eligibility test conducted for recruitment of Nursing Officers across AIIMS New Delhi and various other participating AIIMS institutes throughout India. Selection is a two-stage process — a qualifying Preliminary exam followed by a Main exam that decides the final merit — after which qualified candidates exercise institute-wise choices/preferences for allocation of seats.
AIIMS NORCET-11 Eligibility Criteria – Educational Qualification
Candidates must fulfil either of the following two qualification routes to be eligible for NORCET-11:

For Route II candidates, the required two years of experience is an essential criterion, and to be valid, it must be acquired only after completing the residency period of the course, declaration of result, and registration with the State/Indian Nursing Council.
AIIMS NORCET-11 Age Limit & Relaxation
The general age limit for all AIIMS posts under NORCET-11 is 18 to 30 years, reckoned as on the closing date of online registration, i.e., 13 August 2026. Age relaxation is available as per the table below:

SC/ST/OBC candidates who opt to apply for unreserved vacancies will not be eligible for any age relaxation or relaxation in cut-off marks for those unreserved posts. Age concession is not admissible to sons, daughters, or dependents of Ex-Servicemen.

Fee can be paid only through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. Applicable transaction/processing charges, if any, are payable by the candidate to the bank. The application fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances, and applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected. However, application fees of SC/ST candidates who appear in the examination will be refunded after declaration of results, once their SC/ST certificate is verified.
AIIMS NORCET-11 Exam Pattern – Stage I (Preliminary) & Stage II (Mains)
NORCET-11 is conducted in two successive stages — a qualifying Preliminary exam followed by the Main exam that decides the final merit.

Both stages carry a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer. Each paper is divided into timed sections (Stage I: 5 sections of 18 minutes each with 20 questions; Stage II: 4 sections of 45 minutes each with 40 questions), and once a section’s time lapses, candidates cannot return to it.

Candidates qualifying in Stage I, equal to 5 times the total seats in each category, will be called for Stage II. All qualified PwBD candidates and all tie cases at the cut-off will also be called. The same qualifying percentages (50%/45%/40%, with 5% additional PwBD relaxation) apply for the final Stage II Mains examination as well.
AIIMS NORCET-11 – Merit List, Choice Filling & Allocation
The final Merit List is prepared purely on the basis of performance in Stage II (NORCET Mains). Choices/preferences of participating AIIMS institutes will be invited only from qualified and eligible candidates at a later stage. Candidates who fail to exercise their choices within the given window will not be considered for selection. Allocation of seats will be made strictly in order of merit as per the candidate’s exercised preferences, and there will only be one round of allocation with no waiting list, since NORCET is conducted twice a year.
In case of a tie in Stage II marks, resolution follows this order: fewer wrong answers in Stage II, then higher marks in Stage I, then fewer wrong answers in Stage I, then older date of birth, and finally alphabetical order of the candidate’s name.

AIIMS NORCET-11 – Reservation for Females & PwBD Categories
As per the decision of the CIB (Coordination and Implementation Board) meeting held on 27 July 2019, 80% of seats are reserved for Female candidates and 20% for Male candidates across participating AIIMS institutes. For PwBD candidates, the post of Nursing Officer is identified suitable for the categories OL (One Leg), AAV (Acid Attack Victims), Dw (Dwarfism) and LC-OL (Leprosy Cured – One Leg), subject to the candidate having a benchmark disability of 40% or more. PwBD candidates have the option to bring their own scribe or request AIIMS to arrange one, along with eligibility for compensatory time of at least 20 minutes per hour of examination.
