FAQs – GMRCL Recruitment 2026 Non-Executive Posts

Q1. What is the last date to apply for GMRCL Recruitment 2026?
The last date to submit the online application is 28 May 2026. The fee payment window closes on 31 May 2026. Candidates are advised not to wait until the last day, as heavy website traffic near the deadline can cause technical difficulties. Submitting your application 4 to 5 days in advance is always a safer approach.

Q2. How many total vacancies are there in GMRCL Non-Executive Recruitment 2026?
A total of 383 vacancies have been released across six post codes — 89 for SC/TO, 4 for JE Electrical, 38 for JE Electronics, 22 for Maintainer Fitter, 129 for Maintainer Electrical, and 101 for Maintainer Electronics. All vacancies are provisional and may increase or decrease based on organizational requirements.

Q3. What is the qualification required for GMRCL SC/TO post?
Candidates must hold a Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or Electronics & Communications from a recognized university or institute. Candidates with a full engineering degree in the specified disciplines are also eligible. The role requires extremely high medical fitness, including naked eye vision of 6/6, so candidates with LASIK surgery are not eligible.

Q4. Can ITI holders apply for Junior Engineer posts in GMRCL 2026?
No. For Junior Engineer posts (NE-002 and NE-003), a Diploma or Degree in the relevant engineering discipline is the minimum required qualification. ITI is specifically required only for the Maintainer posts (NE-004, NE-005, NE-006). A Diploma or Degree cannot substitute ITI for Maintainer posts, and ITI cannot substitute Diploma for Junior Engineer posts.

Q5. What is the salary for GMRCL employees during training and after?
During the two-year training cum probation period, SC/TO and Junior Engineer candidates receive a monthly stipend of ₹18,000, which increases to ₹20,000 after training completion. Maintainer candidates receive ₹14,000 during training and ₹16,000 after. Post this period, selected candidates are offered a five-year contract with full IDA pay scales of ₹33,000–1,00,000 (for SC/TO and JE) and ₹20,000–60,000 (for Maintainers).

Q6. What is the selection process for GMRCL Maintainer posts?
For all Maintainer posts (Fitter, Electrical, Electronics), the selection consists of two stages: a Written Test (OMR-based, 100 MCQs, 2 hours) followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination in Bee-One (B-1) category. There is no psychometric test for Maintainer posts — that stage is only applicable to SC/TO candidates.

Q7. Is there negative marking in the GMRCL written exam?
Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer or unattempted question. However, if a candidate is unsure of an answer, they can mark Option E on the OMR sheet — this will be treated as an attempt but will not carry any negative marking. Candidates should use Option E strategically to avoid penalty.

Q8. What is the application fee for GMRCL Recruitment 2026, and is it refundable?
General (Unreserved) male candidates must pay ₹600, while SC/ST/SEBC/EWS/Women/Ex-Servicemen candidates are required to pay ₹300. Both fees are non-refundable under any circumstances, including disqualification or cancellation of candidature. Candidates should thoroughly verify their eligibility before making the payment, as no refund request will be entertained.
