Tier-I questions are Objective Type, Multiple Choice. Questions are set in both English and Hindi, except for English Comprehension. Negative marking of 0.50 marks will be applied for each wrong answer.

Tier-II Exam Pattern (Brief Overview):

Tier-II is also a Computer Based Examination. Paper-I covers Mathematical Abilities and other sections. Marks in Tier-II are used for final merit preparation. Marks scored in Tier-I are used only for shortlisting candidates for Tier-II and are not counted in the final merit. If Tier exams are conducted in multiple shifts, marks will be normalized using the Commission’s approved normalization procedure.

SSC CGL 2026 Nationality and Citizenship Requirements

To be eligible for SSC CGL 2026, a candidate must be any one of the following:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Candidates belonging to the last two categories must produce a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India. Such candidates may be admitted to the examination provisionally, but the appointment offer will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate is issued.

Please note that only male candidates are eligible for vacancies (if any) reported under the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

How to Apply for SSC CGL 2026 – Step by Step Online Application Guide

  1. Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in
  2. If you have not yet registered on the new SSC website, complete your One-Time Registration (OTR) first. Note that the OTR generated on the old website (ssc.nic.in) will not work on the new portal.
  3. Candidates are advised to opt for Aadhaar-based Authentication during OTR for a smoother experience — such applications will not be rejected on grounds of photograph or signature quality issues.
  4. After OTR, log in and click on the SSC CGL 2026 application link.
  5. The application form has an in-built live photo capture feature — you do not need to upload a pre-existing photograph. Stand before the camera as prompted, with a plain background and good lighting. Do not wear spectacles or a cap while capturing the photo.
  6. Upload your scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10 KB to 20 KB), with image dimensions approximately 6.0 cm (width) × 2.0 cm (height).
  7. Fill in all personal details — name, date of birth, category, educational qualification — as per your official documents.
  8. Choose your preferred exam centres (3 centres in order of priority, within the same Region).
  9. Pay the application fee of ₹100/- (if applicable) through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit/Credit Card.
  10. Submit the application and note down your Application Number. Take a printout for your records.

Application Correction: If you wish to correct any detail in your submitted application form, a correction window is available from 29 June to 01 July 2026 (23:00 hours). A correction charge of ₹200/- will be levied for the first correction and ₹500/- for the second correction.
