Every Supreme Court judge appointment is made by the President of India under Article 124(2) of the Constitution. The Centre, on June 1, 2026, cleared all five names after the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended them on May 27. Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed the President’s approval. Article 217 deals with High Court judges, Article 148 with the Comptroller and Auditor General, and Article 143 with the President’s power to seek SC’s opinion.

IIT Roorkee declared JEE Advanced 2026 results on June 1, 2026. Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone secured AIR 1 with an impressive score of 330 out of 360 marks. Kabeer Chhillar secured AIR 2 (329 marks) and Jatin Chahar secured AIR 3 (319 marks) โ all three from the IIT Delhi zone, which dominated the top 3 positions. Arohi Deshpande (IIT Delhi zone) emerged as the top female candidate with CRL Rank 77 and 280 marks out of 360. A total of 56,880 candidates qualified out of 1,79,694 who appeared.

As per official IIT Roorkee data released along with JEE Advanced 2026 results on June 1, 56,880 candidates qualified the examination. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), along with BPCL and HPCL, hiked the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by โน42 in Delhi, making the new price โน3,113.50 effective from June 1, 2026. In Kolkata the hike was sharper at โน53.50, taking the price to โน3,255.50. Prices of 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders were also raised by โน11. Importantly, domestic LPG cylinder (14.2 kg) prices remained unchanged. The hike is attributed to global supply chain disruptions from the West Asia crisis.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia along with MoS Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani launched India Post’s guaranteed delivery services in 6 metro cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The 24 Speed Post ensures next-day (D+1) delivery and 48 Speed Post ensures D+2 delivery. Features include OTP-based secure delivery and end-to-end SMS tracking. The service will expand to more cities by September 2026, with nationwide coverage planned by 2027. Deliveries happen even on Sundays and holidays.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is the statutory body under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) responsible for investigating civil aviation accidents and incidents in India. The IndiaOne Air 9-seater Cessna Grand C208B aircraft crash-landed near Kansor, Rourkela in Sundargarh district of Odisha. The event also marked 75 years since the post-independence consecration of the temple in 1951, a effort led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
