Along with the basic pay, Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (for those not using SCL housing) and Transport Allowance are paid at the prescribed rates. Qualifying marks: 50% for UR, 45% for OBC (NCL), and 40% for SC / PwBD / ESM against notified reserved vacancies.
- Skill Test (Stenography): Shorthand dictation of 800 words at 80 words per minute (10 minutes), followed by transcription on computer in 50 minutes (English) or 65 minutes (Hindi). Shorthand must be as per Pitman’s system; longhand is not permitted.
- Maximum mistakes allowed: 10% for UR and 12% for reserved categories against notified reserved vacancies.
- Candidates are shortlisted for the Skill Test in the ratio of 1:5, with a minimum of 10 candidates per category-wise vacancy count. Final selection is based on CBT marks only, subject to qualifying the Skill Test.

General selection rules:
- The CBT is held in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The Skill Test and Interview are held at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) / Chandigarh only.
- Tie-break order: marks in Part B, then marks in Part A, then older date of birth, then alphabetical order of names.
- A common merit list is prepared and offers are issued in order of merit. Marks are calculated up to 5 decimal places.
- Meeting the minimum eligibility does not automatically allow a candidate to appear in the CBT, and success in the exam does not give any right of appointment.

- Visit the official SCL career page, www.scl.gov.in/career.html, between 1 November 2026 and 30 November 2026.
- Read the full advertisement (No. SCL:DR:01/2026) and choose the post code for which you meet the eligibility.
- Register with your full name, date of birth, valid e-mail ID and valid mobile number. A Registration Number is sent by SMS and e-mail.
- Fill in the online application form. Write your name, date of birth, father’s name and mother’s name exactly as in your Matriculation certificate. Also write your graduation course name clearly, where applicable.
- Select the correct post code, category and PwBD sub-category (if applicable). These cannot be changed later.

SCL Recruitment 2026 – Documents Required for Exam and Document Verification
At the time of CBT:
- Printout of the final admit card with the complete exam centre address
- Two recent passport size colour photographs
- Original valid photo ID proof with date of birth (Aadhaar / e-Aadhaar printout, Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, Government/PSU Employer ID Card, ESM Discharge Book or any Central/State Government photo ID)
- If the ID does not show the date of birth, an additional original proof such as the Matriculation certificate
- Scribe-related certificate, undertaking and scribe’s photo ID (for PwBD candidates using a scribe)
At the time of Document Verification:
- Matriculation / Secondary certificate
- Educational qualification certificates (ITI / Diploma / Graduation or above, as required) and mark sheets of all years/semesters
- Caste / Category certificate in the prescribed format (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS). The EWS Income and Asset certificate must be valid for the financial year 2026-27 based on the income of 2025-26.

Technician ‘B’ starts at ₹21,700 basic (about ₹41,940 per month in total), and Technical Assistant starts at ₹44,900 basic (about ₹83,700 per month in total).
The upper age limit is 35 years for the three Officer posts, 25 years for Junior Personal Assistant, 30 years for Technical Assistant (minimum 18) and 27 years for Technician ‘B’ (minimum 18), as on 30 November 2026, with relaxation for reserved categories.
The total fee is ₹1,500 for Officer posts, ₹1,300 for Technical Assistant, and ₹1,200 for Junior Personal Assistant and Technician ‘B’. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates get the application fee back after appearing in the CBT, but the ₹600 processing fee is not refunded.
Officer posts have a CBT and a Personal Interview (60:40 weightage). Junior Personal Assistant has a CBT and a Stenography Skill Test. Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’ have a CBT and a trade-wise Skill Test, and the final merit is based on CBT marks.
Yes, you can apply for one trade in each post, but you must submit a separate application and pay a separate fee for each. For the Administrative posts, only one post can be applied for.
The CBT is held in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The Skill Test and Interview are held at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) / Chandigarh only.
