ISRO URSC Technician B Selection Process 2026 – Written Test, Skill Test and Exam Pattern
Having the minimum qualification does not automatically mean a candidate will be called for the Written Test. There will be an initial screening based on the academic performance and other details filled in the online application. Only screened-in candidates will be called for the Written Test, and those who qualify in it (based on the cut-offs set by URSC / ISRO and the number of vacancies) will appear for the Skill Test.
A) Technician-B (Post Code 01 to 08)
| Stage | Details |
| Written Test | 80 MCQs in 1.5 hours, +1 mark for each correct answer and -0.33 for each wrong answer. Syllabus is curriculum based. |
| Skill Test | Conducted for 100 marks, qualifying in nature |
| Shortlisting for Skill Test | 1:5 ratio, with a minimum of 10 candidates |
| Category | Written Test Pass Marks | Skill Test Pass Marks |
| Unreserved Candidates | 32 out of 80 | 50 out of 100 |
| Reserved Candidates (only if the post is reserved) | 24 out of 80 | 40 out of 100 |
Tie-break rule: If two or more candidates have the same Written Test score and the same academic score in the notified qualification (NAC/NTC/ITI), candidates with a valid NAC score will get preference over those without it.
B) Light Vehicle Driver-A / Staff Car Driver-A / Heavy Vehicle Driver-A (Post Code 09 to 11)
| Part | Subject | Questions |
| Part A | Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (licensing of drivers, registration of vehicles, control of transport vehicles and traffic, insurance, offences and penalties, mandatory signs, accident claims and claims tribunals) | 50 |
| Part B | Elementary English of 8th Standard level (synonyms, antonyms, use of correct verbs, fill in the blanks) | 15 |
| Part C | Elementary Arithmetic of 10th Standard level (basic operations, percentage, ratio, average) | 15 |
| Part D | General Knowledge (current affairs, who is who, states and capitals, geography of India) | 20 |
| Total | 100 MCQs in 120 minutes | |
- There is one-fourth negative marking: 1 mark for each correct answer and 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- To pass the Written Test, candidates need 50% marks in Part A and 50% marks in Parts B, C and D combined. For reserved categories, passing marks are relaxed by 25%, wherever the post is reserved for that category.
- Total marks of all four parts are counted for shortlisting for the Skill Test, in a 1:10 ratio. In case of a tie, the academic score of the notified qualification is the tie-breaker.
- The Skill Test (Driving Test) is purely qualifying in nature. It is conducted for 100 marks and candidates need 60 marks to qualify. No relaxation in marks is given to any category in the Skill Test.
Exam centres: URSC / ISRO may conduct the Written Test online or offline, in Bengaluru or in different cities across India. The Skill Test will be conducted in Bengaluru only. Candidates will be informed about all stages through their registered e-mail ID.
