Assam Police SLPRB Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 274 Cook, Barber & More Posts
State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB Assam) has officially released the notification for 274 Grade IV posts including Cook, Barber, Water Carrier, Dhobi, Cobbler, Plumber, Tailor, Dresser, Nurse, Craft Instructor, Craft Helper, Yoga Instructor & Pharmacist.
Eligible candidates with Class VIII, Class XII or relevant qualifications can apply online through the SLPRB Assam portal from 22 January 2026 to 22 February 2026.
SLPRB Assam Recruitment 2026 – Overview
SLPRB Assam invites applications for various Grade IV posts to strengthen the State Police, Assam Commando Battalions, and DGCD & CGHG units. This recruitment ensures transparency and merit-based selection through Medical, Physical Standard Test (PST), and Trade Proficiency Test (TPT).
Selected candidates will receive pay scales as per Pay Band-1 / Pay Band-2 with grade pay and other allowances. They will be required to serve anywhere in Assam as per posting.

Eligibility Criteria
All candidates must fulfill eligibility criteria on the closing date of application.
- Nationality: Citizen of India & Permanent Resident of Assam.
- Language: Must be able to speak Assamese or any other state language fluently.
- Employment Exchange: Must be registered with local Employment Exchange in Assam.
- Educational Qualification: Minimum Class VIII for Grade IV (Cook, Barber, etc.), maximum Class XII or Diploma / Training Certificate depending on post.
- Experience / Certification: Required as per post. Example:
- Cook: 1-year experience in cooking OR SSC training certificate
- Barber: 1-year experience in registered saloon OR SSC certificate
- Plumber: 1-year ITI / vocational certificate
- Tailor/Dresser: HSLC + Diploma/experience in trade
- Nurse: Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)
- Pharmacist: Diploma in Pharmacy + Assam Pharmacy Council registration
Salary / Pay Scale
Selected candidates will get Pay Scale according to post:
- Grade IV Staff: Rs. 12,000 – 52,000 + Grade Pay Rs. 3,900/-
- Tailor & Dresser: Grade Pay Rs. 5,000/-
- Nurse: Grade Pay Rs. 6,800/-
- Craft Instructor: Grade Pay Rs. 6,200/-
- Craft Helper: Grade Pay Rs. 5,000/-
- Yoga Instructor / Instructress: Grade Pay Rs. 6,200/-
- Pharmacist: Grade Pay Rs. 7,400/-
- Other Allowances: As admissible under government rules.
Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)
- Assam Commando Battalions: 18 – 25 years
- Assam Police & DGCD / CGHG: 18 – 40 years
- Tailor & Dresser: 18 – 40 years
- Nurse / Craft Instructor / Craft Helper / Yoga Instructor & Instructress / Pharmacist: 21 – 40 years
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 5 years; OBC/MOBC: 3 years
- Age calculated based on Class VIII / Class XII / HSLC Certificate issued by competent authority. Other documents not accepted.
Selection Process
Selection will be conducted through following stages:
- Medical Examination
- Physical Standard Test (PST) – Qualifying
- Trade Proficiency Test (TPT) – 50 Marks, 33% qualifying
- Preliminary Identity Verification (Admit Card + ID Proof)
- Biometric verification before PST/TPT & at exit
- Final Merit List prepared based on TPT marks
- Tie-breaking: Older candidate prevails; if same DOB & marks, higher height considered
Physical & Medical Standards
- Height – Male: 160 cm (Gen/OBC/SC), 158 cm (ST), Female: 150 cm (Gen/OBC/SC), 147.5 cm (ST)
- Chest (Male): 80 cm + 5 cm expansion (Gen/OBC/SC/ST(P)), 77 cm + 5 cm (ST(H))
- Weight: Proportionate to height & age as per medical standards
- Must be mentally & physically fit, free from defects or ailments (diabetes, heart disease, hernia, knock-knee, flat foot, color blindness, squint)
- Vision: Distance 6/6 at least one eye, near vision normal
- Varicose vein – temporary disqualification
